My 5 month old Yorkie is losing his teeth, is this normal? How long will it be before he grows his new teeth and what should I feed him?
My 5 month old Yorkie is losing his teeth...?
Just like children lose teeth to get adult permanent teeth so do puppies. Feed him like normal because he shouldn%26#039;t lose his teeth all at once. It should be one or two at a time, and it shouldn%26#039;t take very long for him to get them all back. If you really get concerned feed him softer food and talk to your vet.
Reply:wash your vagina..it smells Report It
Reply:It%26#039;s the right age for the puppy teeth to drop out while the adult teeth grow in. The adult teeth will be visiable very soon.
Reply:Yes this is normal. His new teeth should be in within a month. You can keep feeding him what you have been.
Reply:Yes, it is. His adult incisors are probably coming in now, his canines will be soon, then the premolars and molars. All adult teeth are fully in by eight months of age.
Reply:Dogs naturally lose their %26quot;baby teeth%26quot; just like people do. At 5 months he%26#039;s losing his puppy teeth and growing in adult ones. You shouldnt need to change his diet at all as they will only fall out one or two at a time and the new teeth will grow in relatively quickly.
Reply:This is normal, he is just losing his baby teeth. His new ones should be coming in very soon.
Keep giving him his regular food, along with rawhide bones for chewing. A little bit of gum bleeding is normal. If they bleed alot, you might want to soften his food with water/milk, or just feed him canned wet food. You want something hard for him to chew on though, so they fall out, so if they aren%26#039;t bleeding too bad then don%26#039;t change any thing.
good luck with the puppy!!
Reply:Sounds like he is teething. That is the right age for it.
Reply:be sure all the puppy teeth come out eventually. Sometimes a puppy tooth won%26#039;t come out as it should and it will really mess up the alignment of the adult teeth.
Reply:He is just losing his puppy teeth, just like children lose their baby teeth. Feed him his normal food and give him plenty of chew toys since he is like a teething baby right now. Frozen wash cloths work great as a chew toy when his gums are sore from teething. Just get some cheap ones, wet them down, wring, and freeze. They really work great.
Reply:This is completely normal with puppies (as with children) They loose their %26quot;puppy%26quot; teeth and the get their adult teeth very soon after the baby teeth fallout. These are their permanent teeth for all their life, so take care of them.... brush their teeth and make sure they have dental checks when they go to your vet. If needed they will do cleaning etc. Good luck with your puppy
Reply:Yes it normal . Feed the normal food or Royal Canin puppy food is good to thats what I use. Feed your dog carrots baby ones it good for his teeth %26amp; eyes. I feed my dog carrot to it helped with the teething , just give him 1 to 3 baby carrots a day . my vet said its healthy for them broccoli is good for them too. wet food tends to make teeth have more plax . brushing your dogs teeth will help too.
Reply:its fine, dont worry. when my aussy was 3months she started loosing hers. within 4 days she had lost all 4 front teeth. it was so cute. but you could see the new ones coming in within a few days. we were a little worried about one canine, the new one came in behind it, and both were there for about 2 weeks, but one day we were playing with a knotted rope and i thought she had spit at me (she%26#039;s a drooler) but then i noticed it was just the baby one that had finally come out (that was the only tooth we found of hers, she must have swallowed the rest)
Reply:It is normal, if he is having trouble chewing, just moisten his food with water till his teeth come in, that way you don%26#039;t have to keep changing his food
Reply:Yes it is normal... keep feeding him like you normally would. The adult teeth come through within a few days!!!
Reply:The same happened to my dog when he was that age. I guess it%26#039;s them loosing their baby teeth! He%26#039;s 6 months now. He lost a couple of teeth but he%26#039;s fine now. I still fed him is dry food only i took his chew bones away from him cuz he would bleed all over them because when he bit on them and chewed, then the tooth would fall out. So yea, make sure you vaccum cuz you%26#039;ll find teeth all over your house. He also had diahrrea for a little while. he did drink more water but it lasted for about a month and now he%26#039;s perfectly fine and his new teeth are just gorgeous! Good Luck....
Reply:first calm down. this is normal for any dog. dogs lose their teeth just like humans. i would fee him what you are feeding him normally. you can tell how long it will take to grow the new tooth in but your pup will be fine.
P.S. if you find the tooth it is very rare because they are usually in the vacume now or he swalloed it which is ok.
Reply:it is very normal. he is changing from puppy teeth to adult teeth. keep feeding him his regular hard kibble. it will actually help him to alleviate the pain and irritation. like babies, teething puppies need things to chew on. they have teething toys that will help in this process. it will grow back in no time.
