Upset about losing teeth?

my 5 year old has just recently lost his two front bottom teeth. most children would be thrilled and excited about the tooth fairy but his reaction was just the opposite! he started screaming and crying, freaking out that his teeth came out. i don%26#039;t know why, and we%26#039;ve explained to him that kids his age lose teeth and this will happen till he%26#039;s about 10. is there any way to calm his fears about losing teeth?

Don%26#039;t talk about losing future teeth unless he asks. Rev him up by letter him know it is COOL! He gets adult teeth to take their space - and adult teeth is one more step towards being... (blank - football player, hockey star, whatever he likes)





He could have seen a drop of blood too, and this DOES freak out some kids. Make sure if he or you bleed you don%26#039;t make a big deal about it - its all regular life :)
Reply:u can tell him that tooth fairy will drop off some money off and he buy that toy that he always wanted or buy something he likes its ok get some ice cream to calm him down awhile explaining to him that he is becoming a big boy
Reply:My grandson just lost his first tooth (he too was a little upset) and his parents told him that not only is the tooth fairy coming, but his tooth is now a new star in the sky! Thought that was really cute. So now he looks up at says %26quot;that%26#039;s MY tooth%26quot;.
Reply:Take him to the dentist and have him explain it to him, they probably have x-ray pictures they could show him of where his adult teeth are and that they will be moving down.
Reply:You can also find a book that shows how the big teeth push up the little teeth. That way he knows that he%26#039;s not going to be toothless. He may be able to see the white of the big teeth coming through. My daught was worried when her teeth were starting to wiggle and I told her that they were making way for her big teeth because she was being a big girl and that the tooth fairy would bring her some money, and when she lost enough teeth, she could get another My Little Pony, her favorite things in the world at that point.
