Get a cleaning first. Their tools remove the hardened plaque that's irritating your gums. Even with good brushing, once it's hardened, you'll need a cleaning to remove it. You should see an improvement to your gum health. Keep up w/the cleanings. Brush of course but floss daily too. Warm salt water can help to ease some of the discomfort. Good luck!
Reply:I emphasize, so try this:

Brush your teeth morning and night

Floss at night

Swish for 30 seconds with Hydrogen Peroxide (it foams)

Swish for 30 seconds with Listerine (original)

Once this gets your gums healthier, you do this routine only twice a week. It is not fun, but who wants to lose their teeth?

Regular teeth cleanings and exams help, too. Best wishes.
Reply:The best thing that you could do right now is to visit your dentist and dental hygienist as soon as possible. Gingivitis can progress into periodontitis if left untreated. Periodontitis is responsible for tooth loss. It sounds like you may need a good professional cleaning. Brush 2x daily with a SOFT bristle toothbrush , try a mouth wash like crest prohealth. There is also a fairly new device called the NTI-tss, it works better than a night guard (for tmj problems). If you don't have a night guard already, it would be a good idea to get one (your dentist could make one for you). Please don't put off getting treatment, it will only get worse.
