At what age do children begin losing there baby teeth?

My son is four (will be 5 in August), and has a loose tooth. Barely loose, but loose. Is this too early? About a year ago he hit this tooth when he and his father were playing, and it has always been a little darker than the rest. Any information is appreciated.

There will be another to take it's place, dont worry. My daughter had 2 front teeth accidently knocked out at 5 and one recently just grew in at age 7 1/2.
Reply:I don't think that is too early. All children are different. My daughter started losing hers about 5. I have heard it depends on if they got their teeth early or late but I don't know how true that is. That tooth could have been slightly injured from hitting it but his new one should come in fine. Good luck to you.
Reply:My daughter started losing her baby teeth at 4. Just make sure that a dentist checks out your son to see if his permanent tooth has any trauma to it.
Reply:I was concerned myself when my 3rd child started losing her teeth at 5. Her siblings were 6 and 7 when they lost their first teeth but I checked with our dentist and he said it was fine. She's 10 now and STILL losing teeth!! I'm concerned all over again! :)
Reply:My neice is just barely 5 and she had all ready lost 2 teeth...so i think it is more normal than anything...Good Luck!
Reply:My son accidentally knocked a tooth out at 5. Immediately after that they started falling out left and right. His dentist said that it was perfectly normal. Every child is different, but I wouldn't worry if I was you.
Reply:My son started to loose his teeth just before his fifth b-day, it's normal.
Reply:5 or 6, my oldest boys just lost his first tooth and he is 6, but he had a full grown tooth coming in behind it already. He has 3 others that are very loose.
Reply:My son lost his first tooth when he was 6. But just like babies get teeth in at different ages......kids lose them at different ages. I you are concerned I would take him to a dentist for a check up.
